What is an Estate Sale?

An estate sale is the sale of personal property including furniture, china, antiques, books, pictures, art, etc. We conduct estate sales by displaying the items to be sold in an attractive manner. We provide tables and tablecloths to display items to their full buying potential. Our customers include interior decorators, antique hop owners, flea market enthusiasts, as well as next door neighbors. Many times a large crowd of up to 300 customers is waiting in line to shop. King Estate Sales offers quality planning and execution of on-site estate and moving sales. Mr. King has been hosting sales since 1975, when he worked as an apprentice with his mother Jean King. Mr. King also offers Estate Appraisal Services.

Estate Sale Set-Up Includes:

  • Clean items when appropriate

  • Organize and price items for sale

  • Place advertisements in local newspaper

  • Advertise on multiple web-sites

  • Obtain permits required

  • Place appropriate signage in the area the day of the sale

  • Hire police officer for traffic management when necessary

What is a moving sale?

A moving sale is provided for people who are moving or downsizing. Normally the owners move and take what they need. Everything to be sold is left in the house.

King Estate Sales offers knowledge of fair market value as well as experience and expertise to conduct and organize an efficient and successful sale.

How many items must I sell to be considered a moving sale?

An estate sale is normally the contents of an entire estate. The best way to know if you have enough merchandise is to make an appointment to meet with Mr. King. He will be able to make a determination very quickly.

How much does it cost?

King Estate Sales charges the greater of 30% of the total sale. Occassionally, a minimum charge is assessed due to the work entailed to complete the sale. This charge will be discussed with the executor before beginning sale set-up.

Who determines the price?

Mr. King determines the price of all items in the house. He has extensive knowledge in the pricing of personal property. Occasionally other specialists are called upon to help. He also encourages bids be left on larger items.

Does King Estate Sales offer other services?

King Estate Sales offers appraisal services for personal property.

How and when do I receive funds from the sale?

A check payable to the executor or power of attorney is issued at the end of the sale.
